Taking Care of Behaviour: Accreditation

We are thrilled to announce that our hugely popular Taking Care of Behaviour Online course has been awarded accreditation.

Successful completion of this online course now entitles you to claim 30 credits towards an MA in Education with Edge Hill University. As the course, the portfolios that participants produce and the Pivotal trainer assessment of portfolios have been looked at in detail by the relevant boards at Edge Hill, the University are happy to award Accredited Prior Learning (APL) credits to the course. This means that if you have confirmation that you have completed the Taking Care of Behaviour course, you are automatically awarded credits. There is no need to submit your portfolio of evidence.

Furthermore, you can receive a further 30 credits, once you have registered on the MA course, by submitting an essay about how engaging with this online training programme has impacted on your classroom practice.Guidance for writing at MA level is available once you have registered on the MA Education course with Edge Hill.

Further APL credits are available if you have qualified teacher status, if you have gone through the threshold or if you are an advanced skills teacher.

The MA Education offered by Edge Hill is totally practice based and no attendance at university is required. You have 5 years from first registering in which to complete the MA and you are supported throughout via a Virtual Learning Environment and an Edge Hill tutor.

If you are interested in registering you can access the application form and APL information below. You should check through the APL information carefully because you may find you are able to claim further credits for prior learning. For example if you have a PGCE, if you have been through Threshold or if you are an Advanced Skills Teacher, these are all worth at least 30 credits at masterslevel.

This APL opportunity is certainly worth considering because the University processes all APL claims free of charge. So, if you do want to access the Edge Hill MA Education, you can do it at a substantially reduced rate. Whilst the cost of enrolling on the MA is currently £750 per 30-credit module, you could be awarded up to 120 credits free of charge via APL meaning that you would only have to pay for 60 credits. And you can pay in instalments!
