Pivotal Education sell drama schemes of work. All schemes have been tried, tested, reworked, tried and tested again, by a number of different teachers. The resulting schemes are real belters! (technical term)
Each scheme gives overall aims and objectives for each unit. Descriptions of activities are extremely detailed and the resources required for each unit are clearly specified. All schemes detail opportunities for assessment, homework and differentiation.
We provide schemes of work for key stages 3, 4 and 5. All schemes refer to exam requirements or to the National Curriculum.
Our schemes are practical and active. You will not find drama schemes designed for the supply teacher, which are packed full of activities to photocopy for students to sit at a desk and work from. Our schemes are designed for motivated secondary drama teachers who want to have a few more good schemes to add to their repertoire.

We have three packs for sale. The KS3 pack and KS4 pack each include 3 schemes of work. Our new Devising with Mask Scheme comes with a video of Pivotal trainers in a workshop (unrehearsed)
The KS3 pack includes:
- a year 7 introduction to drama skills scheme based on the story of ‘Jason and the Argonauts’
- a year 8 vocal and script work scheme using ‘Under Milkwood’ by Dylan Thomas
- a year 9 physical theatre scheme.
The KS4 pack includes:
- an improvisation scheme – which can be used as an assessed exam scheme – focusing on creating and developing character, but encompassing many drama skills
- an exploration of text scheme, looking at the themes and characters of ‘Henry IV’ by Pirandello – some script work here too.
- a scheme that works towards a performance of ‘Widows’ by Arial Dorfman, using the text and improvising around it.
Devising with Mask Scheme of Work and Video
This is a detailed scheme of work designed for GCSE and A-Level drama students. The scheme teaches the skills and techniques needed to perform with full-face expressive masks, and gives the pupils the opportunity to incorporate stylisation into their devised pieces. The scheme can be used in preparation for year 11/12 assessed work. NB: This scheme comes with access to downloadable video footage of our trainers modelling some of the techniques and exercises in the scheme with a group of students.
We send all schemes in digital format – this enables teachers to add to and alter our schemes (as all good schemes develop and change) without having to scribble all over bits of paper.
The cost of the KS3 and KS4 pack is £25 + vat each. The "Devising with Mask" scheme is £15.00 + vat. The files are sent by email.
