Storybook Dads: Storybook Dads, a registered charity, is based at Dartmoor prison. Imprisoned parents are recorded telling a story, which is edited and enhanced on computers. Mistakes are deleted and music and sound effects is added. The final story is put on a CD and sent to their children. The children love these stories and it brings great comfort to them as they can hear their parent's voice whenever they want. Imprisoned parents are able to do something tangible for their children and reading to their children enables them to be a part of their literacy development. Over 17,000 prisoners have taken part in the last 7 years.
