This course has been invaluable to me for three reasons: firstly, I can do it when it suits me and at my own pace, which fits in well with my two small children. Secondly, I have felt a lot of confusion about the whole behaviour management issue and this course is not only giving me really practical ideas for how to handle situations, but is also giving me a "philosophy" on managing behaviour, which I feel I can refer to and draw on in any situation. Thirdly, I feel more positive and in control, knowing that behaviour managment is a combination of attitude and skills which you can develop and that I am not alone in struggling with this issue!
Claire Prescott, Prestwich Arts College, Bury LEA
I found the course interesting and enjoyable. As someone who has responsibility across college for supporting both teaching staff and students, it was excellent to have content and strategies from an outside agency. It helped me to confirm and develop my workshops, guidance and advice.
I found the comments from your team helpful, and as I don't deliver the written curriculum to students, they were supportive and constructive for assignments that required classroom study and interventions.
Heather O'Donnell, Senior Learning Support Assistant, Advanced Learning Coach, City of Pymouth College
I found it good that staff I work with were on the course at the same time so we were putting our new found knowledge into practise in the classroom together and consistently.
Lesley Whitaker, Teaching Assistant, North Shore Health Academy
At first I was a little sceptical about the course, however as the course went on I found myself being drawn in and really being reflective. The course has certainly made me reflect on my practice. Well done.
Mr Chris Rea, Head of Inspiring Healthy Minds, North Shore Health Academy
The course was significantly valuable. It has helped me to improve my own behaviour and definitely will help improve the behaviour of our students in the coming days.
Chiranjibi Paudyal, Teaching Assistant, The Bulmershe School
I found the course enlightening. I would recommend the course to any teacher working in difficult
circumstances.
Paul Johnson, HOD Religious Education, North Shore Health Academy
Sensible and practical advice presented in an accessible manner. Many of the tactics produce "quick wins", with students, others remind us of things that take a little more effort and upkeep, but that build into a positive spiral of behaviours and relationships. Lots of new ideas and tips alongside affirmation of tactics that many people are already using successfully.
Sandra Brannan, Course Tutor with NEET learners, Carlise College
Absolutely brilliant!! Wonderful to see such practical help for dealing with difficult, challenging learners. Really down to earth useful strategies to use - I would recommend it. It will save a great deal of stress and soul-searching in the coming Academic Year. Also reassuring to know that I'm not on my own in this and that other teaching staff have similar challenges to my own. Thank you.
Teresa Rayson, Functional Skills Lecturer, Carlise College
I think this gives you a better understanding of behaviour and how to deal with it without feeling frustrated.
Sue Smith, Head of learning family, North Shore Health Academy
The course has given me a different way of thinking and dealing with situations. I already use some of the strategies that were mentioned but I still found it very useful.
Fahima Khan, Chemistry teacher, Claremont High School
Very good value for money indeed, and lots of support if needed and great feedback on assignments, all done very quickly and effectively. I really enjoyed the video downloads from Paul, as well as other useful inclusions from YouTube. I really loved the Vicki Pollard spoof, because it is just so realistic and we all know a "Vicki" personality!! Really funny, but the Tutor just kept on the subject and was not swayed at all - brilliant example!! More please!! Some more humour please!! I know that behaviour management is a serious business but the Vicki Pollard spoof made me laugh out loud but I was also able to relate it - as were my work colleagues when I showed them the spoof.
Susan Dalgarno, Additional Learning Support Tutor, Eastleigh College
Pivotal has been a great aid which has improved my knowledge, understanding and confidence of recognising, managing and dealing with challenging behaviour. The resources have been beneficial and enjoyable and have given me new strategies to use in the classroom. Thanks Pivotal.
Hayley Wemyss, AST / ESOL lecturer, Stoke College
I have made sure I saved the points for behaviour so I can refer to them it has helped me reflect on how I manage behaviour and given me a new outlook.
