Hello,
Well, you have made it to the summer holidays! I hope you get a chance to wind down and relax over the next few weeks.
If you're thinking about and beginning to plan next term, then we have a few things for you to mull over....
Ofsted Spot Checks:
Ofsted have announced their intention to run no-warning behaviour spot checks from the autumn. The inspections without warning would be for schools rated as satisfactory where behaviour had been identified as a weakness. Is your school likely to be targetted? Are you ready for a spot check? We can help! Our experienced Pivotal trainers have been doing independent behaviour checks for years. We will be able to identify any possible problem areas and make recommendations to you. We can support through live and online training, mentoring, consultation and coaching.

Sustaining and Embedding Practice:
One-off training days can be powerful and motivating, but after the excitement of the initial training you need strategies transferred to the classroom. You need real change. At the class level, impacting directly on student achievement. Book a Pivotal Coach for 5 days and we will work with one faculty or department to create a model of best practice. Teachers see strategies that were introduced in the initial training working with their students in their school or college. There is no better proof for your teachers.

September Training:
Are you still looking for training for the start of next term? We still have (limited) availability on some days at the start of September. The start of the academic year INSET slots are important, they get new staff on board and they set the pace, tone and focus of the year. Get them right and you have a flying start; get them wrong and motivation levels drop before the students even get back! Don't leave it to chance. Make sure you start the year with excellent training.

Online Training:
Got some time over the summer and want to put it to good use? Why wait for your school to provide you with the quality behaviour training you need. Take your CPD into your own hands! Our online behaviour courses are self-paced and you can start today. We have two courses available: Taking Care of Behaviour and Managing Extreme Behaviour. Not sure? Why not watch a demo of the course online? This will give you a good idea about how it works, what is involved and what the experience for the user is.
Rates are £59.95 + vat per course, per user. But this rate drops to £19.95 + vat per user if you sign up a group of over 30 staff.
Click to watch the demo (Allow 30-60 seconds for the video to load). Find out more about the courses

Storybook Dads:

Keeping Families in Touch
http://www.storybookdads.org.uk
Storybook Dads, a registered charity, has been based in Dartmoor prison for seven years and has expanded into 100 prisons including women's. Over 17,000 prisoners have taken part.
Imprisoned parents are recorded telling a story which is edited and enhanced on computers. Mistakes are deleted and music and sound effects are added and the final story is put onto a CD. The result is very professional and digital editing makes all the difference as this makes the stories come alive for the children.
The beauty of the scheme is that prisoners can take part regardless of their reading ability because a mentor's voice can be edited out.
Selected prisoners are trained to be audio editors and they gain valuable IT skills as well as a qualification in sound production - this can help them with employment and resettlement upon release. We have employed four ex -prisoners as audio editors.
The children love these stories and it brings great comfort to them as they can hear their parent's voice whenever they want. Imprisoned parents are able to do something tangible for their children and reading to their children them enables them to be a part of their children's literacy development.
Storybook Dads can be a lifeline for families and plays a key role in helping to maintain the family unit during the period of separation: this also helps to reduce re-offending.
Well,I hope you have a good summer holiday. There will be no rest in the Pivotal office, you can contact us all summer long! So if you have any questions or would like to talk to us about any of our products or services, please get in touch.
Best wishes,
Ellie Dix
